How to Install the Picture of the Day on your Web Site

Copy the code from the instruction page for the picture you are interested in displaying and paste it onto your web-site. There are several options and sizes to choose from. If you do not wish to use an iFrame and you are an experienced programmer, you can use the option of php, perl or other language to read the daily updated code automatically from our web site and display it on yours. We require that you must maintain a link to the FotoZon Picture of the Day page in order to display the picture and allow us to give proper credit to the owner of the photograph.

Technical Information

We suggest using one of the methods that shows the title of the picture and the link directly to the home page of the photographer with the image in full size. In this way, you will be providing the most detailed dynamic content. Either the iFrame or reading the code from your script will work for this method. The medium sized image is 360 pixels wide and is a good option if your page is not too crowded already. For a smaller sized picture, we offer the option of a small proportionally sized image with its largest dimension no larger than 200 pixels and a "tiny" size of only 100 pixels. For a uniform look and consistently sized image, we offer a 100 by 100 pixel sized image. Either of these small pictures has the option of being displayed with the title and alt tags. For the ultimate in conserving space, you can also show just the image on its own, however we do require that you provide a link back to FotoZon.

We have just launched the Picture of the Day on June 1st, 2007. Currently the project is still in its early stages so we are only offering one topic so far. More categories will be added in the future. If you want to start submitting your photographs in consideration for a new category, please do so and we will make it happen when enough interest has been generated.
